Bridgewater to host
Support Our Troops Red Rally
(Bridgewater, Nova Scotia) On May 23rd, 2008 the Town of Bridgewater
and the Royal Canadian Legion branches of Zone 13 will play host to
an anticipated crowd of thousands from around Nova Scotia and
beyond, all coming together to show support for Canada’s military
men and women.
Bridgewater’s event is a non-partisan event, designed to show
Canadian forces that we appreciate and support them. “We envision a
sea of people in red shirts there to show the troops that we are
behind them” says the organizing committee.
General R.J. Hillier, CMM, CD, Canada’s Chief of Defence Staff;
members of parliament; a number of MLAs are confirmed to attend the
event, which will be emceed by Canada AM’s Jeff Hutcheson. The event
will kick off at 1:15pm with a parade that will march into the South
Shore Exhibition Grounds where the rest of the rally will take
place.
The committee is welcoming everyone to attend and show their support
by wearing red to the event. “And not just on the 23rd,” says the
committee. “We have been actively working at spreading the word
about Red Fridays too. Showing support for the troops shouldn’t be a
one day affair”.
