FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Date: October 19, 2006 RED FRIDAY COMES TO BARRIE RALLY IN MEMORIAL SQUARE TO SUPPORT OUR TROOPS On Friday November 10, Barrie residents can show their support for Canadian troops by wearing red and showing up at a rally in Memorial square. Red Fridays is a Canada-wide effort, with communities across the country gathering to show their appreciation for the sacrifices made by our troops. Local Radio personalities Deb James of KOOL FM and Al Brown of Rock 95 are behind bringing Red Friday to Barrie. Says James “Red Fridays is not about supporting the war, or about partisan politics, it’s about supporting the men and women who are serving overseas in incredibly difficult conditions.” She adds, ” It’s about showing our Canadian heroes that we care.” Brown and James felt that the day before Remembrance Day would be the perfect time for Barrie to show off it’s support. Al Brown pointed out that “ On November 11 we remember the sacrifices made by veterans of past wars- Red Friday is an extra opportunity to show our support for Canadians who are fighting and dying for our country right now”
