The Red Ride Continues

Friends of Veterans Canada, Rolling Thunder Canada and Red Fridays Foundation of Canada is pleased to coordinate The Memorial Drive and Rally occurring on May 30, 2010 in support of our Canadian troops and veterans.  This Memorial Drive and Rally is about Canadians saying “Thank You” to the men and women who serve this country in pursuit of peace throughout the world.   It’s also about honour and respect, especially to those who have lost their life and the sacrifices of their families.  We are going to retrace the path a fallen member of the military takes when they come home from battle, to honour the sacrifice our soldiers has made. We are to mourn their passing but also celebrate their lives.  It is also a time to say “Thank You” to the families that lost their loved ones and to all service men and women, past and present that have provided their service to our great country.  This Memorial Drive and Rally serves as another opportunity to think about our veterans more than just one day a year.  Canadian peacekeepers need our support and thanks for their sacrifices and their service. This is what the Repatriation and memorial rally is all about.  Please come out to the Rally from Trenton to Toronto or show your support to our Canadian Troops by standing on one of the bridges along the Highway of Heroes during the Rally procession.  There is no charge to anyone who wishes to attend or participate in this event.

2008 The 2008 Repatriation Memorial Drive and Rally was a huge success. Please visit the RMDR ride of 2008 for details.

2009 We are also taking this opportunity to merge this event with the 65th anniversary of the Liberation of the Netherlands (Holland)

The 2009 Rolling Thunder Red Ride was completed successfully on May 30, 2009.   The Rolling Red Thunder Ride is organized by a charity - Friends of Veterans Canada. This charity's mission is to create an online video library of our Canadian Veterans to document their lives as Canadian Military servicemen and their personal lives.  This library will be available for free to everyone with special considerations for our youth in Canadian schools.

The 2009 ride is the Friends of Veterans; Rolling Thunder Canada Red Ride.

Heritage Highway "Highway of Heroes" Drive.

Cars, Motorcycles, busses etc are all invited.  Special participants with RED vehicles are invited to be a special participant in the procession to represent our fallen. Only red vehicles can be part of the procession and limited to the number of fallen. Currently there are 125 red vehicle positions. Up to 1000 other cars, motorcycles, or other types of vehicles will join the trip down the highway of heroes. Groups of participants will be marshalled to the highway of heroes from Trenton to travel the trip to the Toronto Rally.

People from their local areas and from around the country will be invited to watch from the 50 overpasses of the highway 401 as the procession proceeds down the Highway of Heroes.  Arrival in Toronto through is a pre selected route and supporters are encouraged line up to watch the arrival. A rally will follow for all participants in Toronto.

May 2010 also marks the 65th anniversary of the Liberation of the Netherlands (Holland). We are incorporating celebrations and memorial services for the the Canadian and Allied soldiers that fought to liberate a Nazi strong hold in Holland. We are inviting veterans of the Canadian and Allied forces to attend our rallies.  Special transportation will be provided for these veterans as they can take the trip down the Highway of Heroes and see people on the bridges thanking our troops and veterans for their unselfish dedication to our country.  It will be a home coming once again these veterans will never forget as we demonstrate we will never forget them. Special ribbons and lapel pins are currently being made to show our pride of the 65th Anniversary of the Liberation and Freedom of Holland 1945-2010. Please watch our site for when they become available. These will be a special collectors item.

The 2010 ride planning is underway. Announcements of the locations of the rallies will be posted here as well as departure and arrival times.

Sponsors and volunteers are needed to help this ride and rally be a success. If you can volunteer your time to help at the rallies for registration, seating arrangements and other rally duties, please let us know by registering yourself as a volunteer.

Families of the fallen are invited to register here. Special assistance will be made available for accommodations in Trenton and Toronto if needed. Transportation services will be available as well. We invite all families of the fallen to attend this special event as the Rallies will have special memorial services for you and your family members recognizing the ultimate sacrifice made to our country; this is an opportunity for Canadian supporters to meet you and show our support.

The Official Red Fridays Car Search is on!

We are searching for the new Official Red Fridays Vehicle**.  The Red Fridays Vehicle is slated to attend many other rides and shows throughout the 2009-2010 year. This is an opportunity to show corporate support and showing your community that your business cares about our troops and veterans.  Please contact us here for more details and how to become the Red Friday Car sponsor.

**RFFC is only seeking the one Red Fridays Car. The vehicle's main colour must be red. The vehicle type is not specific. RFFC will make the decision on which vehicle that will become the official Red Fridays Car for the 2009-Dec 31 2010.  The Official Car will have the logo and of the corporate sponsor on the vehicle.  Other advertising material may be given out at the events the Vehicle attends. Media Advisories will be sent out including the Official Red Fridays Vehicle description, photos and renderings that will include the sponsors trade mark and markings on the vehicle.  The vehicle will be returned to the sponsor after the agreed period and may remain with the title of the Official Red Fridays identity for further advertisement of the sponsor.
